Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
As a parent, you want care for your child that is gentle, thoughtful, and centered on their needs. Two studies released in September 2026 offer a clearer look at why families bring children to the chiropractor and how parents describe their experience.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
Investigators in Australia and Canada reviewed visits by 605 young patients, age 17 and younger, seen by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for a visit in each age group, showing that many families think of chiropractic as one piece of keeping their children healthy and on the move. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teens accounted for nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
A second study tracked 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents evaluated three aspects of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the warmth and respect offered by the chiropractor and office staff. Overall, parents described favorable experiences in all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In other words, families felt listened to, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, which matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
CARE THAT FITS YOUR CHILD
Together, these findings paint a picture of chiropractic as a valued, family-centered choice. No two children are alike, and their care shouldn't be either. At Layden Chiropractic, our team starts with a careful history and examination, explains findings in simple terms, and tailors techniques to your child's age, size, and comfort level. Questions are always welcome, and if another provider would better meet your child's needs, we'll be happy to help you connect with the right one.
