Plainville Chiropractic Care for Work-Related Musculoskeletal Pain

Work. We all have to do it. Everyone’s job necessitates posture(s) that may trigger pain at one point or another. Layden Chiropractic sees the pain! Many Plainville back pain and neck pain patients who come to chiropractic bring stories of work-related pain. We can help!

TREATING AND PREVENTING WORKPLACE MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN

Layden Chiropractic is poised in its skill to alleviate and manage work-related musculoskeletal pain for our Plainville chiropractic patients. Not too surprisingly, 81.7% of office workers in one study had musculoskeletal pain in at least one area. Back pain was the most often experienced pain for 54.8%. Neck and shoulder pain were after that. Curiously, musculoskeletal system pain was seen as high in office workers whose physical activity levels were reported as low. 58.5% of these workers reported being “active” physically, 37.3% were less active, 4.1% were very active. (1) Research shows that in-the-workplace exercise interventions were effective in addressing musculoskeletal disorders and in reducing pain for office workers. (2) Layden Chiropractic welcomes the optimism this brings for our Plainville back and neck pain patients!

WHAT EXERCISE INTERVENTIONS WORK?

Layden Chiropractic treats work-related pain within the guidelines of The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management which integrates gentle spinal manipulation along with exercise, nutrition and other advice.  We see the value in researchers’ description of work-related musculoskeletal pain disorders as those painful conditions brought on by inadequate utilization of the musculoskeletal system throughout the work day. Exercise, education, ergonomic direction, massage are pretty typical methods of managing and attempting to prevent pain. Most recommendations like this were for workers to do on their own time. Recently, researchers suggested the benefit of specific, individualized, resistance strengthening exercises in the workplace to decrease pain, fatigue, and discomfort in worker’s neck and upper extremities. (3) That is a good idea. Layden Chiropractic sees the value in taking care of oneself at home as well as in the workplace!
